Metallization Tracker

Oxide-to-metal and alloying nodes, status, products, and capacity notes.

Last updated: DB-backed
How to read this tracker

Metallization includes oxide-to-metal, alloying, and related metalmaking steps that sit between separation and magnet production. It is the scarcest step in the Western rare earth chain — almost every Western magnet manufacturer currently sources metal from China or Japan.

Capacity figures are disclosed for a subset of facilities only — blank entries indicate undisclosed or commercially sensitive production volumes. Note that some magnet manufacturers complete metallization in-house and do not appear in this tracker separately.

REI and FSI scores are explained in the REI Scoring Rubric and FSI Scoring Rubric.
